You can find our well-stocked library to the left of the main entrance gates in its own building. Every class has 45 minutes each week to visit the library with their teacher and browse through over 3000 books. In conjunction with the school’s ongoing IT improvement drive the lending system has been fully computerised since January 2013.
We encourage the children to read as much as possible and in order to keep the stock interesting and relevant we have a wish list so that the children can have a say which books should be bought for the library. We also gratefully accept second hand books in good condition.
The school library is also open on Thursdays after school from 2.30 to 2.45 pm to allow the most avid readers to have a book on the go at all times. Please note that the library is run after official school hours by Garda vetted parents who give up their time voluntarily in order to enable the children to read more books. Due to the voluntary nature of the library cover by parents, you should be aware that sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, there is a possibility that the library remains closed on a short notice. As a result, afternoon library time should not be considered an extension to the school day. The children may visit the library with their parents or if they do so alone parents are asked to ensure that if their children are not allowed to walk home unsupervised, they should be collected from school at 2.30 every day. Many thanks for your continued co-operation.
